Spring Recycling Tips

February 13, 2014 | Pollution, Recycling

When the sun starts coming out during spring, most people are getting prepared to clean and organize the house and the office. For most people this is a time for throwing out old stuff—which means it’s a great time for recycling! Although at Western Tire Recyclers we focus on OTR tire recycling in Utah, we believe that all recycling is important for our planet. That’s why we encourage you to read these tips even if you don’t have tires to recycle.

1. Reduce the stuff you have

When you start cleaning out your closets, pantries, and other storage spaces, you’ll find a whole jackpot of unnecessary junk. Getting rid of old stuff is a great way to keep your space clean and organized. When you do get rid of some of this stuff, make sure that you donate it to a local donation center or else recycle it when possible!

2. Reuse the stuff you have

When you’re cleaning out your house, don’t get so excited about throwing old stuff away that you forget to be innovative with how it could be reused. Even something as simple as a plastic bag can be reused if it’s still in good condition. Be environmentally-conscious when deciding which products could be reused and which products should be tossed out.

3. Recycle more

There are many ways to recycle, but one of the biggest reasons people don’t recycle is because it’s inconvenient. Eliminate excuses for yourself. If you know that you frequently want to recycle paper in your bedroom, put a recycling basket/bag in your room so you don’t have any excuse to put paper in the trash can. Eliminate any of the reasons you might have used to convince yourself that recycling is “too hard” or “too inconvenient.”

These are just a few of the ways that you can be a better recycler this spring! Don’t forget that each recycling effort does matter, even if it seems small! Start recycling better today!
